Every afghan is special to me. Every child that receives one receives a piece of me. This afghan is extra special.
Jayna spent the first two and a half years of her life as my daughter. Now, she has found her forever home with an amazing family who has opened the door for us to have contact with Jayna.
Of course, she needed her own afghan. And she received it.
I hope she feels the warmth of a hug every time she wraps the afghan around her shoulders or covers up with it at bed time. This one, a tiny bit more than the others, was made with love.

The afghan is visiting Patrick and his family in South Carolina!
As you can see, it's being well hosted!
Patrick is so darn cute and looks like he is having a blast with the afghan! And I LOVE how ALL the kids put it over their head and "hide"!

I was contacted about Logan's mom by Kristy Colvin of The International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association regarding Logan.
Logan was still born and his family is feeling the loss of their child. Kristy asked if I was willing to send them an afghan in Logan's memory and I couldn't wait to help ease this family's pain.
Here is Logan's mom with his afghan:

This afghan is a bit of a mystery. I remember being contacted by someone who has a child with Down syndrome. She worked at the Ronald McDonald house in their area and asked me to make an afghan for a family who was there with THEIR child with Down syndrome.
The child's name is Chloe.
For the life of me, I cannot remember who ordered the afghan and numerous searches through my emails have lead me to dead ends.
So, if you know a little girl, named Chloe, let me know! I'd love to get in touch with her parents!

The adorable Mr. Joaquin of Tris a Charm received his very own afghan!
He is such an adorable little boy!
His mom sent me a charm necklace from her shop Addy and Sam which I absolutely adore! There is one charm for each of my kids with their names on it! The perfect gift for any mom, grandmom or friend!

Mr. Benjamin's father, Martin keeps track of the afghan through a Google map which shows us all where the afghan has been as well as links to each child or family's blog.
He also keeps us all up to date on Mr. Ben on his blog Big Ben Benjamin!
He does an amazing job at keeping up with it and to say thank you, I sent Mr. Ben his own afghan! As you can see, he was excited to take a bite out of it and dug right in!

Mr. Rhett is one of the reasons I started this project. He is in and out of the hospital and I thought the best thing I could do was send him an afghan. Then I wanted to send ALL the kids an afghan and from that, the Traveling Afghan Project was born!
So here's to Mr. Rhett with his very own afghan!

You can read more about him at The Flock Of Birds!

The afghan has made its way to South Carolina into the hands of the adorable Mr. Eian! Eian and his family have been quite the host for our T21 afghan! Not only did they take it to a baseball game, but it also accompanied Team Eian at the Union County Torch run for Special Olympics!!
As you can see, the afghan is well loved!!

Ms. Mayson is the daughter of a very good friend of mine, the one and only Amy of The Flege Farm.
Amy and Mayson's family were the first to receive the Traveling Afghan and Ms. Mayson got quite attached to it. Therefore, I offered to make her one of her own and An Afghan of Their Own was born!
Here's Mayson with her very own afghan!

This fund has been created through The T21 Traveling Afghan Project in order to provide afghans for children with Down syndrome who are ill or facing other challenges.
This money goes towards purchasing yarn and covering the shipping costs of the afghan. You may make a donation towards a specific child or donate to the fund in general.
When you donate, the child will be sent a card with your name on it and you will be informed as to which child your donation provided an afghan to.
If you are interesting in donating to An Afghan Of Their Own Fund, please contact me at chandosjoy@gmail.com
